Lim Guan Eng, the former chief minister of Penang, has denied rumors that he is seeking a position in the Penang executive committee if the Pakatan Harapan-Barisan Nasional coalition wins the upcoming state polls. In an interview with Kwong Wah Yit Poh, Lim stated, “I was the Penang chief minister. Do you think I still want to become an exco member? You must be joking! Chances must be given to others. How can one be so greedy?”

    M. Satees, an ex-DAP assemblyman who is now contesting as an independent candidate for the Bagan Dalam state seat, previously alleged that a DAP “emperor” wanted to become a senior exco member. Additionally, Gerakan deputy president Oh Tong Keong claimed that Lim could be appointed as a deputy chief minister.

Regarding his relationship with caretaker Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow, Lim described it as “normal” and stated that they were still in communication with each other. Lim pointed out that it was the party’s five-man candidate selection committee, which includes Lim himself, that renominated Chow as the chief minister candidate.

In response to criticism from some members who were not renominated to contest, Lim reminded them that it was the same committee that had chosen them to contest in the past. He also mentioned that during his tenure as the DAP secretary-general, the number of committee members was expanded from three to five to allow more party leaders to be involved in the candidate selection process.
