PETALING JAYA: The Royal Malaysian Police, known as Bukit Aman, has initiated an investigation into PAS president Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang for his recent remarks concerning the sanctity of Islam.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed that the police have launched an investigation into the matter and will soon be summoning the Member of Parliament for Marang for questioning.
“We are looking into the case under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998,” he stated.
He also mentioned that Hadi has not been summoned for questioning yet due to his current health condition, as reported by Sinar Harian on Friday (March 1).
Hadi’s statement, titled “Ketinggian Islam Wajib Dipertahankan (Islam’s sanctity must be defended)”, drew criticism from the Selangor Sultan, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, who described the statement as “disrespectful” and seemingly directed towards the Malay Rulers in response to the Federal Court’s recent ruling against certain provisions in Kelantan’s Shariah Criminal Law Enactment.
