KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s Chief Minister, Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, has announced plans to launch two new industrial parks in the state, in response to the increasing confidence among investors. The state Cabinet has approved the development of industrial parks in the south western Kimanis region and the northern Kota Belud-Kota Marudu districts. This decision comes as the existing two industrial parks are fully occupied.
Hajiji revealed that the proposed Kimanis Industrial Park will primarily focus on the oil and gas industries. It will complement the neighboring Sipitang’s Sabah Oil and Gas Industrial Park (SOGIP), which has already attracted investments from various parties. Similarly, the Kota Kinabalu Industrial Park (KKIP) has also been fully occupied by multiple general industries.
The Chief Minister stated that the new industrial park in the Kota Belud-Kota Marudu area will also cater to general industries, similar to KKIP. Despite still searching for the ideal location, there is sufficient government land available for the development of these parks.
Hajiji emphasized that since the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition took over the state government two years ago, there has been a surge in interest from both local and foreign investors in doing business in Sabah. He expressed satisfaction that these investors have confidence in the state government and encouraged their citizens to establish businesses in Sabah, citing the investor-friendly environment.
The Chief Minister took the opportunity to urge all members of GRS to maintain and strengthen unity, to ensure the party’s continued support in the development and progress of both the state and its people.
