TUARAN: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor has called on Malaysians to embrace patriotism and foster unity among different religions and races during the National Day Month and Fly the Jalur Gemilang campaign.

Hajiji emphasized the importance of unity among the various races and ethnicities in Malaysia, stating that it is crucial for achieving progressive economic growth and political stability.

He urged the people to work together in protecting and strengthening unity in the country to ensure continued prosperity and progress without disruption from negative elements.

The Chief Minister highlighted the significance of racial unity and tolerance in preserving the country’s independence, aligning with this year’s National Day theme of “Malaysia Madani: Tekad Perpaduan Penuhi Harapan” (Civilized Malaysia: Unity Resolution Fulfills Hope).

Hajiji added that the success of development in Sabah under the Hala Tuju Sabah Maju Jaya plan relies on close relations, understanding, tolerance, and unity among the people at all levels.

In line with the National Day month, the Chief Minister also called on the people to proudly fly the Jalur Gemilang (Malaysian flag) and replace damaged flags with new ones, instilling a caring attitude towards the national symbol and identity.

As part of the Merdeka Jalur Gemilang programme, Hajiji flagged off a convoy of 17 vehicles from eight public and private agencies, involving 66 participants. Tuaran was represented by 100 participants with 25 vehicles, making their way to Kiulu, Tamparuli, and northern Kudat.

Organized by the State Information Department, the Kembara convoy will travel 2,300km throughout Sabah until August 31.
