In Parliament on Monday (Oct 9), issues such as the increase in prices of goods, shortage of local white rice, and the haze situation in the country will be discussed. Datuk Seri Doris Sophia Brodi (GPS-Sri Aman) will question the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister about the government’s strategy in controlling the sudden increase in prices, especially of essential items. This will be asked during the Questions for Oral Answers session.
Datuk Seri Shahidan Kasim (PN-Arau) will raise a question to the Prime Minister regarding the total number and locations of permanent relief centres that have been built. This question arose from the Deputy Prime Minister’s earlier announcement about constructing relief centres in flood-prone areas.
After the session, the Agriculture and Food Security Minister will provide an explanation about the issue of local white rice supply, and the Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister will address the haze problem currently affecting the country. Additionally, the Defence Minister will give a briefing on the Boustead Group, which is a subsidiary of the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT), while the Home Minister will discuss prison and detention centre reform.
The order of business for Monday’s sitting also includes the first reading of six bills. These bills are the Trade Unions (Amendment) Bill 2023, Energy Efficiency and Conservation Bill 2023, Electricity Supply (Amendment) Bill 2023, National Water Services Commission Act (Amendment) Bill 2023, Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (Amendment) Bill 2023, and Public Finance and Responsibility Bill 2023. – Bernama
