As of 5pm on Thursday (Oct 5), seven areas in Malaysia have recorded unhealthy Air Pollutant Index (API) readings.

According to the Malaysian API Management System (APIMS) website operated by the Department of Environment (DOE), the highest API reading was recorded in Bukit Rambai, Melaka, at 154. Melaka City followed with a reading of 151, while Port Dickson in Negri Sembilan recorded a reading of 134. Tangkak in Johor had a reading of 113, whereas Alor Gajah in Melaka and Cheras had readings of 105. Batu Pahat in Johor recorded a reading of 103.

An API reading below 50 indicates good air quality, while a reading between 51 and 100 indicates moderate air quality. Readings between 101 and 200 are considered unhealthy, readings between 201 and 300 indicate very unhealthy air quality, and readings above 300 are considered hazardous.

The API data is updated every hour based on information from 68 air quality monitoring stations located throughout the country. – Bernama
