PORT DICKSON: Dr Zaliha Mustafa has advised candidates and their supporters to halt campaigning if there are signs of a Covid-19 outbreak. The Health Minister emphasized the importance of adhering to the standard operating procedures (SOP) to prevent cross-infection, which could worsen the Covid-19 situation.
Dr Zaliha stated that although the number of cases is decreasing and the outbreak is no longer a global health emergency, there are still a few cases. Therefore, the public needs to remain vigilant and follow healthcare measures such as wearing a face mask if symptoms arise.
In light of the upcoming state polls on Aug 12, the Health Ministry and the Election Commission will soon announce the SOP for Covid-19 patients to cast their votes.
This Saturday, simultaneous state polls will be held for Kedah, Terengganu, Kelantan, Negri Sembilan, Selangor, and Penang, in addition to the parliamentary by-election in Kuala Terengganu. – Bernama
