SUNGAI PETANI: The Health Ministry (MoH) is eagerly awaiting the police investigation report regarding the recent tragic death of a 10-year-old girl at a government hospital in Klang. Health Minister Dr. Zaliha Mustafa emphasized the need to gather detailed information from all parties involved before providing further explanations about the incident. She also urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information or being influenced by social media rumors, as the authenticity of the real story remains unknown.

“I urge people out there to be more cautious and seek information from authentic sources. Spreading negativity will only fuel negative sentiments,” she advised reporters during the Madani Afiat program and the national-level observation of World Malaria Day 2023, held in Sungai Petani on Sunday (July 16).

The recent incident involving the alleged death of 10-year-old Dea Maisarah Bada while receiving treatment at a government hospital in Klang has gained significant attention on social media, giving rise to various public perceptions. The hospital has also faced accusations of providing false information about the child’s death, claiming she had already passed away upon arrival for treatment.

Yesterday, news outlets reported that Selangor police chief, Datuk Hussein Omar Khan, confirmed receiving two reports related to the recent death of the girl at Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR) Klang. An investigation under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 has been initiated.

Meanwhile, Dr. Zaliha highlighted in her opening speech that malaria cases in the country are well under control. “The MOH has achieved the target of zero cases of local human malaria infection since 2018, according to the National Strategic Plan for the Elimination of Malaria (NSPEM) (2011-2020). This remarkable achievement has been maintained for five consecutive years,” she proudly declared.
