KUALA LUMPUR: The High Court in Kuala Lumpur has scheduled a 30-day trial period in June and July of next year for the criminal breach of trust (CBT) case involving Datuk Seri Najib Razak and former treasury secretary-general Tan Sri Mohd Irwan Serigar Abdullah. The case pertains to the alleged misappropriation of RM6.6 billion in government funds. Judge Muhammad Jamil Hussin set the trial dates in response to a request made by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhammad Saifuddin Hashim Musaimi.
The court has set aside the period from June 4 to 27 and from July 2 to 31 as the trial dates, with the exception of Fridays. Judge Muhammad Jamil Hussin stated that “the whole month of June and July is fixed for trial except Fridays.”
Today’s proceeding was scheduled for the prosecution to update the court on the status of the representation submitted by Najib and Mohd Irwan, requesting the dismissal of the six charges against them. However, no information regarding this matter was provided to the court during the proceeding.
