KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor is urging surveyors to take part in ensuring affordable homes and properties in Sabah. The Chief Minister emphasized the need for collaboration with all industry stakeholders to find ways to reduce property and construction costs in the state. Speaking at the Seventh International Surveyors Congress on October 4, he acknowledged the significant contributions of surveyors to Sabah’s development, particularly in the property market and construction sector. He encouraged surveyors and other industry players to work together in order to create a more efficient housing supply chain and delivery system that can lower construction expenses and property prices, thereby benefiting low-income earners. Hajiji assured that the government will continuously strive to provide affordable housing for the people of Sabah. State Industrial Development and Entrepreneurship Minister Phoong Jin Zhe delivered Hajiji’s speech during the event.

Hajiji called upon the Sabah Branch of the Royal Institution of Surveyors Malaysia (RISM), which possesses expertise in land administration and development planning, to formulate a sustainable and affordable housing policy that complements the government’s efforts in this field. As Chief Minister, his objective is to guide the state’s development path in the coming years and foster unity, prosperity, and inclusiveness in Sabah. He emphasized that achieving this vision requires the collective effort of all stakeholders. Hajiji mentioned that this year’s RISM Congress theme, “Navigating the Future: Embracing Change and Transformation,” is highly relevant in a world where change is the only certainty. He emphasized the importance of remaining competitive, embracing change, and transforming to navigate the future. He expressed confidence in RISM’s capacity to lead this transformation using its expertise and resources.
