The Home Ministry in Kuala Lumpur has confiscated eight books suspected of containing communist elements during a raid at a business premise in Petaling Jaya. The operation was carried out by the ministry’s control and enforcement division on Thursday, following a tip-off about the sale of these books.
In a statement released on Friday, the ministry invoked Section 18 of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 to seize the publications for further investigation. The ministry emphasized its commitment to regulating publications, especially those that are deemed to threaten public order, morality, and security, or incite public opinion to the detriment of public or national interest.
The statement advised the public to report any similar publications by calling 03-8000 8000 / 8889 3145, emailing [email protected], or visiting the website www.moha.gov.my.
