PUTRAJAYA: A statement will be issued by the Home Ministry regarding measures to tackle prostitution in the capital city, including hotspots such as Pudu, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

The Home Minister said that he had held a meeting two days ago with Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Suhaily Mohd Zain, and Bukit Aman Commercial Crime Investigation Department director Comm Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf regarding the matter.

“I have been fully briefed by them, but for now, let me digest everything first. There are a few more things I need them to finalise. I will make a statement on this (prostitution issue) at a later time,” he said at a press conference after the Home Ministry’s monthly assembly on Tuesday (July 23).

In July, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said the persistent challenge of bribery is hindering efforts to eradicate prostitution and gambling centres in the country. However, he added, the government, under the Federal Territories Ministry, had implemented rigorous measures since last year to combat these issues.
