A total of 110 house buyers can now move in as the Taman Saujana Jaya housing project in Kulai, which had faced technical problems, has been completed. Johor housing and local government committee chairman Datuk Mohd Jafni Md Shukor stated that the project had experienced a two-year delay due to issues such as road construction and water supply. However, with the intervention of the state government, these problems were resolved. So far, the state government has successfully resolved six out of the 33 sick housing projects in Johor. The committee aims to complete three more sick housing projects located in Bandar Tenggara, Pengerang, and Muar by the end of this year. Mohd Jafni made these remarks while handing over the keys to the Taman Saujana Jaya homeowners.
According to Mohd Jafni, one of the challenges faced by developers of sick projects is the escalating cost of materials and lack of capital. One of the relieved homeowners, retired engineer Salleh Omar, expressed his happiness at finally receiving his keys after waiting for several years. Previously, he lived with his family of ten in a small two-bedroom house in Taman Manis nearby, which was quite cramped as some of his married children were also residing with him. He bought the house six years ago in anticipation of a comfortable place to live after retirement. Salleh Omar mentioned that his family will be relocating to their new four-bedroom home the following month.
Another buyer, 53-year-old housewife P. Yogeswary, shared her excitement about moving in with her family soon. She revealed that her son had reached out to Mohd Jafni through Facebook and had numerous discussions with the developer over the course of a year. Although the delay was frustrating, Yogeswary expressed her gratitude that the wait has come to an end.
