A 46-year-old housewife with a love for art has seized a unique opportunity to display her paintings at an exhibition hosted by the Melaka Museum. Dayaben Ritesh Ramani expressed her excitement at finally being given a dedicated space to showcase her artistic talents after years of yearning for such an opportunity.
“This is the moment I have been waiting for, and the organizers agreed to give me this chance after seeing my paintings,” she said. “I am delighted to join other artists from diverse backgrounds and age groups to display our talents.”
The mother-of-two had previously been unable to participate in major exhibitions due to her family responsibilities, but the Melaka Museum provided her with the much-awaited chance to do so.
“This exhibition was an eye-opener for me as each of the artists present had their own painting styles, and their artworks were beautiful, diverse, and colorful,” she shared. “I hope to shine in the global arena with this golden opportunity given to me for the first time.”
Dayaben, a resident of Kampung Lapan, revealed that she has been passionate about art since childhood, particularly in capturing the essence of life and heritage buildings in her works. “I am focused on creating simple artworks that depict the Malaysian environment and cultural heritage,” she said.
She also expressed her intention to preserve cultural heritage by capturing the tales of the past and conveying them through her contemporary art.
The two-day exhibition was inaugurated by Melaka’s deputy tourism, heritage, art, and culture committee chairman Datuk Zaidi Attan. The general manager of the Melaka Museum Board (Perzim), Erne Hamsah, was also present during the opening.
Zaidi announced that the art exhibition will be held on weekends during the car-free zone initiative at Bandar Hilir, providing a platform for local art lovers to express their passions and explore their boundless creativity.
