BALIK PULAU: A husband and wife couple are among five suspects detained by police in connection with an assault cum robbery incident at a workshop in Teluk Kumbar here.

Barat Daya District police chief Supt Kamarul Rizal Jenal on Monday (Sept 23) said the five suspects, aged from 23 to 55, were detained at a house in Taman Nelayan after the workshop owner lodged a report at the Teluk Kumbar police station.

Based on the report, the victim was with two workers in the workshop when six individuals arrived at the location.

One of them slapped the victim and started assaulting his workers and him with an iron rod, resulting in head and bodily injuries.

“The suspects were angry because one of his workers would regularly go to the suspect’s house to inform him that his motorcycle had been fixed and ready for collection,” he said.

Kamarul added that the victim claimed that he was also beaten when trying to stop the assault on his worker.

The suspects had also grabbed a gold chain and bangle belonging to his worker.

The five suspects will be remanded for five days and investigations carried out under Section 394 of the Penal Code. – Bernama
