Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi alleged that he was instructed to pay RM13 million in income tax while Lim Guan Eng served as the finance minister. The Deputy Prime Minister further claimed that this action was motivated by Lim’s disdain for Umno and Barisan Nasional.

Speaking at the Malaysian Indian Muslim Congress (Kimma) general assembly, Zahid mentioned that he had already been making monthly payments for his income tax. He revealed that this incident had not been shared with anyone before.

Zahid also responded to Kimma President Datuk Seri Syed Ibrahim Kader’s statement that the party would not be submitting an application to join Barisan. The Deputy Prime Minister explained that the decision was dependent on the consensus of all component parties, as stated in the Barisan constitution.

Although Zahid acknowledged that this posed a problem for them, he expressed hope that they could address the matter through discussion and potentially amend the constitution.

Additionally, Zahid expressed confidence in Barisan’s ability to regain its position as the dominant coalition in Malaysian politics, particularly in the upcoming 16th General Election (GE16).

He encouraged perseverance, highlighting that they were currently facing a test and advising against giving up. Zahid believed that success would ultimately be attained by those with strong determination.

Moreover, he stated his belief that Umno and Barisan would produce the next prime minister. Zahid claimed that Barisan would secure more seats than competing coalitions, including Perikatan Nasional and Pakatan Harapan, in GE16.

In response to questions regarding the length of time Umno-BN would have only a deputy prime minister, Zahid answered that they would have their own prime minister when they gained more seats than other coalitions.
