PETALING JAYA: Bersatu’s Jeram assemblyman, Datuk Harrison Hassan, affirms his allegiance to Perikatan Nasional despite rumors of supporting Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.
Harrison emphasizes that he will not betray the trust of his constituents in Jeram who elected him in the last state polls.
“Having served as the Jeram assemblyman for only six months, I am committed to addressing the various issues faced by the people in Jeram,” he said.
“I hold the mandate of the people and I stand firm with Perikatan,” Harrison stated, as reported by Malay portal Sinar Harian on Sunday (March 10).
Speaking to reporters at an event in Jeram, Harrison responded to a news report alleging that he was among several Opposition state assemblymen considering supporting Amirudin.
He clarified that he has no intention of taking legal action against the news portal, as such claims are common in local politics.
“In my view, the clarifications I have previously made are sufficient to express my position within the party,” Harrison added.
The news report suggested that five Bersatu state assemblymen were contemplating endorsing Amirudin’s leadership.
On March 6, Sinar Harian quoted Harrison refuting any support for Amirudin’s leadership.
