KUALA LUMPUR: Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), has stated that the RM150mil allocation recently announced by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim will be fully utilized to refurbish old police quarters and stations. The objective is to ensure the well-being of police personnel by providing them with a conducive and comfortable working environment. In addition, the funds will also be used to find a new office for Esscom (Eastern Sabah Security Command), which the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) has been renting until now.
Razaruddin stressed the importance of carrying out the refurbishment works properly to ensure that the facilities are in their best condition, which, in turn, will enhance the services provided by PDRM. He also emphasized the need to closely monitor the progress of maintenance works for facilities under the Home Ministry, especially for the PDRM, to guarantee that the personnel truly benefit from them.
The IGP has instructed his team to monitor the progress of works funded by the RM150mil allocation on a weekly basis. He believes that good governance and proper management of work implementation are essential for the success of these projects.
On July 15, Anwar announced the approval of the RM150mil allocation for the maintenance of facilities belonging to agencies under the Home Ministry. Specifically, RM45mil was allocated for repairs, upgrading works, and procurement of equipment at 117 General Operations Force (GOF) control posts, while RM40mil was designated for Esscom-related infrastructure and facilities. An additional RM50mil was approved for the maintenance and refurbishment of quarters with broken floors and faulty toilets.
