KUALA LUMPUR: The police have postponed the recording of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin’s statement to Tuesday (Sept 12), as requested by the Perikatan Nasional chairman. According to Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, Muhyiddin had urgent matters to attend to, which led to the delay. This was announced on Thursday (Sept 7).
Initially, it was planned for Bukit Aman to record Muhyiddin’s statement on Monday (Sept 11) in relation to an ongoing investigation into a recent ceramah (political talk) delivered by the former prime minister. Deputy Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Ayob Khan Mydin Pitchay confirmed that the Bukit Aman CID’s Special Investigation Unit had already reached out to Muhyiddin for this purpose.
At present, two police reports have been filed regarding the matter. In a recent speech, Muhyiddin had allegedly mentioned a “fatwa” that prohibited voting for Pakatan Harapan’s Pulai parliamentary candidate Suhaizan Kayat.
