KUALA LUMPUR: The Inspector-General of Police has denied allegations that investigations into matters concerning Race, Religion, and Royalty (3R) are politically influenced.
“The claim that the police are acting under political instructions is false,” said Tan Sri Razarudin Husain during a press conference held at the Royal Malaysia Police College after officiating the 4th National Forensic Symposium for Law Enforcement on Thursday (Sept 7).
He further added, “We have consistently taken action against individuals involved in 3R issues. Even the previous government administration cautioned against addressing 3R matters to prevent disruptions to public order.”
Razarudin was responding to allegations that the police’s involvement in 3R cases was politically motivated.
The Inspector-General of Police reiterated that the police would continue to take firm action against those who touch on 3R issues.
“We will not allow any room for individuals to exploit 3R matters, including those related to religion and race, which could undermine national harmony,” he stated.
Recently, Razarudin announced that an individual known as Imam Mustaqim was sentenced to nine months in jail after failing to pay the fine imposed by the court in a 3R case.
“We will fearlessly take action against anyone who raises 3R matters,” he asserted.
Razarudin expressed his satisfaction with the performance of the police’s 3R task force.
“Currently, the task force consists of 32 officers and personnel who have adequately conducted investigations within a seven-day period,” he said.
“After submitting the investigation papers to the Attorney-General’s Chambers, we will receive further guidance and necessary actions, particularly regarding forensic analysis and data preservation,” he added.
