The Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Amirudin Shari has stated that he will seek the opinion of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim before announcing the portfolios for his exco line-up. Speaking to reporters after a gathering with the state’s civil servants, Amirudin said the portfolios would be announced and allocated accordingly the following day. He explained that there was a need for revision in order to align with the Federal ministries. Amirudin mentioned the inclusion of new elements in ministries such as cost of living and climate change that required streamlining and coordination with Putrajaya.
When asked about the state’s investments, Amirudin addressed concerns raised by Selangor Ruler Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah about the state’s declining economy. He clarified that investments were still performing well, and the decline mentioned by Sultan Sharafuddin was in regard to the export and import value. Amirudin attributed the displacement in Selangor’s economic program to the transition towards a service economy, which resulted in stagnant manufacturing. He highlighted that since the Covid-19 pandemic, the state’s economy had focused on services like logistics and distribution, enabling Selangor to remain the nation’s largest economic contributor.
During his address to the state’s civil servants, Amirudin emphasized the Selangor government’s commitment to implementing all policies and promises put forward. He stressed the importance of understanding this commitment to ensure smooth delivery to the target groups.
