Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said has stated that she has not been notified about the Cabinet reshuffle announcement that is supposed to take place on Tuesday (Dec 12).
The Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reforms) is currently in Spain after attending proceedings at the Madrid Criminal Court for the criminal trial against ex-arbitrator Dr. Gonzalo Stampa.
“We will see the Cabinet reshuffle announcement online tomorrow.
“I don’t know if I will still have a job or not… but so far I have not received any calls on the matter.
“If I am out of a job, I hope someone can give me one – perhaps as a legal adviser at Media Prima, TV3, or Astro – I don’t know.
“All I know is that I will still be Pengerang MP until the 16th General Election,” she quipped in an online press conference on Monday (Dec 11).
Azalina used the Cabinet reshuffle as an analogy for Stampa’s actions.
She said she was a minister now but that may not be one after the Cabinet reshuffle.
“For example, in the reshuffle tomorrow and I am no longer a minister… all the action plans (I) implemented are nullified because I no longer hold power from the position.
“So, coming back to Stampa, he did not have the power to make any order,” she said.
Stampa is a Spanish arbitrator involved in a legal case concerning Malaysia and the heirs of the defunct Sulu Sultanate.
He faces criminal charges in Spain for “unqualified professional practice” after he controversially ordered Malaysia to pay US$14.92 billion to so-called Sulu sultanate heirs.
This decision was made despite Stampa’s appointment as an arbitrator being annulled by the Madrid High Court of Justice in June 2021.
