The Immigration Department of Malaysia has collected nearly RM4 billion in revenue this year, according to the Home Ministry secretary-general, Datuk Ruji Ubi. As of August 31, the department had collected RM3.7 billion in the form of levies and through its recalibration program, among other sources of revenue. Ruji emphasized that the department will continue to prioritize revenue collection for the nation’s coffers. He made these comments during a speech at the graduation ceremony of Immigration cadets in Kuala Lumpur.
In addition to revenue collection, Ruji revealed that the department had detained 40,259 undocumented immigrants and 203 employers between January 1 and August 31. A total of 66,551 individuals underwent inspection during 5,799 operations conducted by the Immigration Department. Ruji affirmed that security and law enforcement remain top priorities, with the mission of eliminating illegal foreigners from the country.
Ruji also expressed the Ministry’s support for the Immigration Department’s efforts to strengthen its human resources and organizational structure. This includes the addition of more positions to increase promotion and career advancement opportunities. The graduation ceremony celebrated the completion of training for 301 cadets, who had undergone training from July 3 to September 9.
