In a recent operation in Nilai 3 near Seremban, the Immigration Department has detained 44 undocumented foreigners, according to state director Kennith Tan Ai Kiang.
Over a total of 149 foreigners were screened during the operation that took place at 22 residential and commercial premises on March 18 and 19.
Tan stated that the detained individuals had violated provisions related to Immigration laws and regulations, and they have been sent to the Immigration depot in Lenggeng for further investigations.
The majority of those detained were Bangladeshis (19), followed by Indonesians (15), Nepalese (nine), and one individual from Sri Lanka.
Out of the 15 Indonesians, six were women, and the ages of those detained ranged from 24 to 48 years old.
Despite some attempting to flee upon realizing the presence of immigration officials, they were successfully apprehended.
In addition to the detainees, eight employers and premises caretakers have also been summoned to assist in the investigation process at the Immigration Department.
Tan emphasized the importance for employers to not hire undocumented foreigners, as strict actions can be taken against them for doing so.
He also expressed gratitude towards the public for providing information that led to the arrests of the undocumented foreigners.
