KUALA NERUS: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced that children of entrepreneurs under Amanah Ikhtiar Malaysia (AIM) will receive additional free tuition to foster their interest in Mathematics and Science subjects.
Anwar highlighted the declining trend of students pursuing these fields and emphasized the need to address the issue. He stated, “We will add more (free tuition) courses for Mathematics and Science subjects. We will also need more funding; maybe AIM can work with the Education Ministry to figure out how we can further improve the education programme.”
Anwar made these comments during the launch of Sahabat Usahawan Madani AIM Carnival at a hotel in Kuala Terengganu.
AIM managing director Shamir Aziz revealed that RM1.2mil has been allocated for the free tuition programmes, benefiting Year Five and Six students nationwide. The programme comprises 133 tuition centers and involves 197 teachers.
Furthermore, the event held at the Payang Scout Hotel in Kuala Terengganu also set four Malaysian Book of Records in motion.
Aside from the announcement on education, Anwar reiterated that his unity government has persistently safeguarded the Malays and Islam. He expressed disappointment over individuals who intend to topple the government, despite its commitment to the protection of Islam. Anwar firmly stated, “It’s not fair for some people to slander us, saying we have neglected Islam and the Malays.”
The Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives Minister, Datuk Ewon Benedick, and Foreign Minister, Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir, were also present at the event.
