An Indonesian couple died in a fire at their two-story home in Taman Megah, Kajang. The man, in his 50s, and his wife, in her 40s, suffered burns and suffocated due to the smoke. Another male victim, who survived, sustained some injuries. Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail mentioned that the fire started in the electrical appliances located beneath the stairs and destroyed around 3% of the house’s lower floor. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation. A team of firefighters arrived at the scene after receiving a distress call at 2.13am.
In a separate incident in Ampang, two Nepalese men were apprehended for breaking a shop window in Taman Melawati while under the influence of alcohol. The store manager, aged 33, discovered the broken window upon arriving at the shop at around 8.30am on Friday. According to Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail, CCTV footage showed the two men punching the window multiple times until it shattered, after which they fled. The police arrested the two Nepalese men, aged 21 and 22, at a mall in Taman Melawati. Both individuals worked as shop assistants at the mall, had no previous criminal records, and tested negative for drugs. ACP Mohd Azam stated that the incident occurred while the men were intoxicated after a drinking session. The case is being investigated under Section 427 of the Penal Code for committing mischief.
