Kelantan police in Malaysia are currently conducting an internal investigation on four personnel who were previously detained on suspicion of supplying ketum juice and tobacco to detainees in the Kota Bharu Court lock-up on October 30th.
State police chief, Datuk Muhamad Zaki Harun, announced that the four personnel, who held the rank of corporal and lance corporal and were aged between 25 and 33, were remanded for three days from October 30th to November 1st.
“The internal investigation is ongoing, and we will take temporary action for the suspension process.
“If it is confirmed that the substances were brought for personal use or distribution, action will be taken under Section 30(3) of the Poisons Act 1952,” he told reporters at the Kelantan Police Contingent Headquarters on Sunday (November 5th).
He highlighted the need for increased emphasis on supervision in light of this case, as instructed by the Inspector-General of Police regarding the accountability of all supervising officers. – Bernama
