In a recent statement, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail announced that interviews for citizenship applicants will now be carried out in a more relaxed manner.
The Home Minister highlighted that this change is part of the ministry’s efforts to enhance and streamline the citizenship application process.
Traditionally, applicants would experience anxiety during these interviews.
However, the goal now is to conduct the interviews in a more informal and stress-free environment.
During a press conference at Rumah Seri Kenangan in Ipoh, Saifuddin Nasution emphasized, “Instead of using structured questions or a regimented approach, we want to make the interviews more relaxed.”
He assured that this modification in the interview process will not compromise the requirements set forth in the Federal Constitution.
The minister also disclosed that there are currently around 12,000 pending citizenship applications under Article 19 of the Constitution.
“We will be conducting a series of interviews with these applicants to expedite the processing and ensure a smoother application process,” he stated.
