JOHOR BARU: The police will collaborate with the Johor Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) to investigate the dissemination of deviant teachings by Suhaini Muhammad, also known as Si Hulk.
Johor police chief, Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat (pic), advised parents to be proactive in monitoring their children’s social media activities and ensuring that they are not influenced by such teachings.
“The investigation is being conducted by JAINJ, and we will assist them in curbing the spread of these deviant teachings,” said Comm Kamarul Zaman.
“Preliminary findings indicate that the individuals responsible for the viral video are currently overseas, so we will continue to monitor their movements,” he added during a press conference at the Johor Police Headquarters on Monday (July 24).
Comm Kamarul Zaman also mentioned that the police have received a report regarding the case.
Earlier, on July 20, Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid, the chairman of the Johor Islamic Religious Affairs Committee, stated that JAINJ would collaborate with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to curb the dissemination of Si Hulk’s deviant teachings.
“We will work with MCMC to address this issue through media platforms, including preventing their participation in social media,” he said.
Mohd Fared revealed that a fatwa was issued on July 22, 2021, declaring the teachings of Si Hulk to be in conflict with Islam, and hence all activities associated with the group are prohibited.
