KUANTAN: Investigation papers (IP) relating to two politicians from the Islamic Party of Malaysia (PAS) over alleged statements made prior to the recent Pelangai state by-election in Bentong, near this location, have been submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor’s (DPP) office, according to Comm Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman.

The Chief of Police in Pahang informed during a press conference at the Pahang Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) in Kuantan on Tuesday (Nov 7) that the IPs concerning Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and Jengka assemblyman Shahril Azman Abd Halim were forwarded to the DPP’s office last month.

Comm Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman stated that the police had taken statements from five individuals regarding the investigation against Muhammad Sanusi, including the Mentri Besar himself. The statement from Muhammad Sanusi was recorded on October 7 at a police station in Manchis, Bentong.

The investigation against Muhammad Sanusi was conducted based on Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998, and Section 4A(1) of the Election Offenses Act 1954.

The probe into Muhammad Sanusi pertained to his remarks made at a political talk (ceramah) on September 22, which occurred a day before the nomination for the Pelangai state by-election.

Comm Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman further mentioned that the investigation against Shahril Azman was also carried out in compliance with Section 4 (1) of the Sedition Act 1948, Section 233 AKMM, and Section 505(b) of the Penal Code.

Shahril Azman was accused of highlighting issues related to race, religion, and royalty (3R) in Felda Sungai Kemahal, and a video of this occurrence was uploaded on his TikTok account. – Bernama
