The police are searching for a suspect who was captured on camera robbing an elderly woman with a knife at a bank in Ipoh. The Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan stated that a manhunt has been initiated to capture the suspect, who is believed to be involved in several other cases in the area. He added that they are hopeful that his capture could lead to the resolution of additional crimes. The case is currently being investigated under Section 392/397 of the Penal Code.
These comments were made by ACP Yahaya in response to a video of the incident that quickly spread on social media platforms. The footage, which lasted one minute and three seconds, shows a man wearing a motorcycle helmet with a dark faceshield entering a bank and attempting to rob two women using the ATM machines. ACP Yahaya confirmed that the incident occurred on May 14 at 5.20pm, and one of the women, who is in her 50s, was robbed of approximately RM300.
