The Ipoh City Council is aiming to have a minimum of 2,500 food premises with grade-A certification by 2025, according to Datuk Rumaizi Baharin. As of September, only 359 evaluated premises have achieved this grade. Meanwhile, there are currently 2,268 premises with B certification, and 51 food outlets with grade C.
Rumaizi Baharin expressed his hope that food premises in the B certification category will progress to grade A by 2025. He made these comments during a press conference held at the council building in Ipoh on Monday (October 16), after presenting awards for the cleanest restaurants and cafes in the city.
The Mayor emphasized the importance of establishing Ipoh as a globally recognized clean and safe gastronomic destination, in addition to its reputation for delicious food. He further added that achieving this target is crucial, not only to become the cleanest city, but also to support Visit Perak Year 2024. Rumaizi Baharin stressed the need for food premises to provide an exceptional experience for both locals and tourists.
For those interested in checking the cleanliness of licensed restaurants or cafes, both residents and tourists can do so through the MyGred MBI website (http://mygred.mbi.gov.my).
