KUCHING: Sarawak Transport Minister Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin has criticized the management of MYAirline for the sudden suspension of their operations without informing passengers. He expressed disappointment and said that this had caused a lot of inconvenience and unhappiness to travelers. On Friday (Oct 13), he released a statement saying that the Ministry had received numerous calls from affected passengers seeking help with refunds and further information regarding the suspension.
Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin also revealed that he had personally spoken to the executive chairman of the Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom), who assured him that all efforts would be made to assist those affected. He further added that MYAirline’s schedule to Sarawak included three daily flights to Kuching, two daily flights to Sibu, and one daily flight to Miri from Kuala Lumpur.
The suspension, which was announced on Thursday (Oct 12), is estimated to affect around 125,000 passengers nationwide. In response, Mavcom, Malaysia Airports, and other airlines have extended their help, including offers of discounted airfares.
For those affected, Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin advised them to contact MYAirline’s customer service directly to initiate the refund process. He also urged them to submit inquiries or lodge complaints through Mavcom’s consumer hotline at 1800-18-6966 or [email protected].
In conclusion, he expressed his appreciation for the support and assistance provided by Mavcom, Malaysia Airports, and other airlines to all affected passengers, praising their caring spirit.
