KUALA LUMPUR: Social media personality Ratu Naga, also known as Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah, questioned whether sharing a post is now considered an offense after having her statement taken by the police on Monday (Oct 30). Speaking to reporters outside Bukit Aman, Ratu Naga explained that all she did was share an image that was already posted on Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Instagram account. The photo portrays Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail, the wife of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, alongside the wives of other leaders at the United Nations.

The social media influencer clarified that the photo was not manipulated, despite allegations claiming it was altered or had other faces added. Ratu Naga maintained that no edits or slanders were made, emphasizing that the image is still accessible on Netanyahu’s page. Expressing her confusion regarding the investigation, she asked, “What am I being investigated for actually? A repost has now led to what happened today.”

In addition to the statement recorded regarding the photograph, Ratu Naga’s lawyer, Zaid Malek, revealed that the police also questioned her regarding a recent peaceful rally in front of the US Embassy. He emphasized that participating in peaceful protests is a constitutional right for Malaysians, stating, “There shouldn’t be any issue that led to her being investigated and called (up) for this.” Furthermore, Ratu Naga’s phone was confiscated during the investigation.

Syarul Ema Rena and Zaid went to Bukit Aman after she was summoned to give her statement about reposting the photograph. The two were seen leaving the police compound at around 12.47pm.
