KUALA LUMPUR: Three individuals, including a local married couple, have been apprehended in connection with an Israeli intelligence agent who was recently captured at a hotel on Jalan Ampang. Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain confirmed the couple, aged 42 and 40, were taken into custody at a Ramadan bazaar in Kuala Selangor for allegedly providing firearms to the Israeli man. The Israeli was found with six pistols and 200 live bullets when apprehended by a joint team from Bukit Aman and Kuala Lumpur CID.

According to a source, the couple’s arrest led police to their residence in Kuala Selangor, where another pistol was discovered in a sling bag. The couple’s primary role was suspected to involve supplying firearms and catering to the logistical requirements of the 36-year-old Israeli individual. “Investigations have suggested that both suspects were the primary procurement sources for the Israeli in terms of weaponry,” the source stated.

The lone man in custody, a local from Cameron Highlands, Pahang, is believed to have served as the Israeli’s driver. The driver’s role is crucial in piecing together the movements of the Israeli suspect. Investigators are delving into whether the Israeli acted alone or had accomplices residing in the country.

Security checkpoints nationwide are now on high alert to intercept any suspicious individuals connected to the suspect who may be attempting to flee hastily. The motive behind the Israeli’s possession of a substantial arsenal is currently under scrutiny by Bukit Aman’s CID unit. The guns, including a Sig Sauer, two Glocks, and a Smith & Wesson, were uncovered in bags linked to the suspect in his hotel room.

“We are focusing on understanding the Israeli’s motive, considering the significant number of pistols and bullets he possessed. He claimed to have come to Malaysia to settle a personal dispute with another Israeli, but our investigation is exploring other potential agendas, including the targeting of national leaders and prominent figures,” Razarudin highlighted. It is suspected that the couple secured the pistols from a neighboring country before selling them to the suspect via cryptocurrency.

A total of seven pistols were seized during the investigation, with concerns raised about the possibility of the Israeli individual being an intelligence operative. “Given the volatile situation in Palestine and Israel, we must remain vigilant about the safety of our nation’s leaders and distinguished personalities,” Razarudin emphasized. The suspect initially entered Malaysia using a French passport before revealing his Israeli nationality during further interrogation.

He had stayed in multiple hotels before his arrest and had arrived in Malaysia on March 12 after a flight from the United Arab Emirates. The ongoing investigation is aimed at unraveling the intricate web of connections and uncovering any potential threats posed by the Israeli suspect. The authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the safety and security of the country and its citizens amidst these concerning developments.
