KUALA LUMPUR: In the upcoming Dewan Rakyat session on Tuesday (Feb 27), several critical issues will take the spotlight. These include the resignation of senior officers from the Armed Forces Fund Board (LTAT), the allocation for flood victims, and the government’s efforts to safeguard the State Syariah Enactment Law.
One of the items on the agenda is the resignation of LTAT senior officers, which will be addressed by Datuk Khair Mohd Nor (PN-Ketereh) to Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin during the Minister’s Question Time (MQT). Khair aims to inquire about the measures taken by the government to manage this situation.
Another important topic to be discussed is the RM50 million allocated for the construction of low-cost apartments in Taman Sri Berembang Port Klang, which has been deemed unsafe for habitation. Rodziah Ismail (PH-Ampang) will address this issue to Housing and Local Government Minister Nga Kor Ming.
Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassan (PN-Kota Baru) will pose a question to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim regarding the efforts being made to protect the integrity of the State Syariah Enactment Law, especially in light of potential strategic legal challenges.
Dr Richard Rapu @ Aman Begri (GPS-Betong) will question the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Minister on the effectiveness of the National Action Council on Cost of Living (NACCOL) in tackling the cost of living issue. Additionally, Suhaizan Kaiat (PH-Pulai) seeks information from the Prime Minister on the government’s strategies to combat the rising trend of online scams and provide assistance to victims.
Datuk Seri Dr Ronald Kiandee (PN-Beluran) is set to inquire about the details of the new 30-year supplementary concession for the KLIA Ekspres and KLIA Transit services from Transport Minister Anthony Loke. Following the Q&A session, Azli Yusof (PH-Shah Alam) will table a motion to express gratitude and debate on the royal address delivered by His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, during the Parliament’s opening session.
According to the Parliament’s official calendar, the Dewan Rakyat sitting will span 19 days, with the debate on the royal address scheduled from today until March 7, followed by four days of winding-up sessions by relevant ministries starting on March 11.
