KUALA LUMPUR: Japan has pledged its support for Malaysia’s upcoming Asean chairmanship in 2025, underscoring its commitment to regional stability and collaboration.
This assurance was conveyed during a high-level call between Malaysia’s Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Hasan, and his Japanese counterpart Takeshi Iwaya on Wednesday (Oct 30).
Malaysia’s Foreign Ministry, in a post on its official Facebook page, said that the two leaders exchanged views on a range of regional and international issues of mutual concern.
“Foreign Minister Iwaya reaffirmed Japan’s support for Malaysia’s upcoming chairmanship of Asean in 2025,” it said.
Beyond Asean matters, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between Malaysia and Japan, especially in trade and investment, defence and security, as well as the Look East Policy. – Bernama
