KUALA PILAH: Jempol MP Datuk Shamsulkahar Mohd Deli will be appointed as Barisan Nasional’s Jeram Padang election director effective Monday (July 31), says Datuk Seri Jalaluddin Alias.

The Negri Sembilan Umno chief and Jelebu MP said Shamsulkahar would replace its previous director Datuk Mohd Zaidy Abdul Kadir.

Mohd Zaidy, who is also Barisan’s Jeram Padang candidate, met with an accident earlier on Monday (July 31).

He suffered a broken leg while his driver was currently in critical condition.

“The decision was made following Datuk Zaidy’s health.

“This decision is very important to ensure the Barisan machinery in Jeram Padang to ensure work there carries on as usual.

“I also call on the unity government machinery to pay close attention to their campaign work ahead of polling on Aug 12,” Jalaluddin said in a statement on Monday (July 31).

“May the remainder of our campaign go smoothly, harmoniously and without any unwanted incidents,” said Jalaluddin who is Barisan’s Pertang candidate for the state seat.

He also called for the public to pray for Mohd Zaidy’s driver Muhammad Khairul Ahnaf Baharom who was in critical condition.

Muhammad Khairul was currently receiving treatment at the Tuanku Ampuan Najihah hospital in Kuala Pilah.

Earlier Monday, it was reported that Mohd Zaidy was involved in a traffic accident.

Umno secretary-general Datuk Dr Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki, in a Facebook post, said the accident happened at around 3.25am along the Jalan Pasir Besar- Palong stretch.

Mohd Zaidy will be taking on Perikatan Nasional’s Suresh Sreenivasan in a straight fight for the Jeram Padang state seat in the Aug 12 state election.
