Sarawak Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan has urged Jepak voters to exercise their democratic duty and choose a new elected representative in the upcoming by-election on Saturday (Nov 4). He emphasizes the importance of voters turning out in full force to participate in the electoral process. According to Awang Tengah, all citizens aged 18 and above have the right to choose their representative and he hopes that the people of Jepak will fulfill this responsibility.
The by-election in Jepak was called following the death of GPS assemblyman Datuk Talib Zulpilip on Sept 15 and features a three-cornered fight between Iskandar Turkee (Gabungan Parti Sarawak), Stevenson Joseph Sumbang (Parti Bumi Kenyalang) and Chieng Lea Phing (Sarawak People’s Aspiration Party).
Awang Tengah, who is the GPS by-election operations director, stresses the importance of mobilizing supporters on polling day in order to secure victory. He highlights that the party’s success depends on the votes and expresses hope for a high turnout to secure a significant majority.
Iskandar Turkee also echoes the call for voters to come out and cast their ballots. He advises voters to check their polling stations and the opening and closing times. Iskandar hopes that all voters, regardless of their location (town, villages, or longhouses), will fulfill their responsibility and participate in the by-election.
