Three polling centres for the Jepak by-election were closed at 4pm Saturday (Nov 4).
The three polling centres that were closed are SK Kuala Annau, SK Sungai Setulan, and Tabika Kemas Kuala Segan.
The Election Commission (EC) chairman, Tan Sri Abdul Ghani Salleh, previously stated that the voting process for the Jepak by-election was going smoothly and no untoward incidents had been reported so far.
The EC also reported that as of 3pm, the voter turnout stood at 45%.
Abdul Ghani urged the voters in the constituency to fulfill their democratic responsibility.
“I urge all voters to come out and cast their ballots so we can achieve the 65% voter turnout target. This goal is achievable, especially since the weather is good,” he said after observing the voting process at SK Bintulu.
The Jepak by-election features a three-cornered fight among Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) candidate, Iskandar Turkee, Parti Bumi Kenyalang’s (PBK) Stevenson Joseph Sumbang, and Chieng Lea Phing from Parti Aspirasi Rakyat Sarawak (Aspirasi). – Bernama
