Jobless man admits raping 11-year-old sister-in-law

An unemployed man in Ipoh has been charged in the Sessions Court with the rape of his 11-year-old sister-in-law. On Friday (Sept 22), the 22-year-old accused, who is married and has one child, pleaded guilty when the charge was read before Judge Norita Mohd Ardani. The charge was made under Section 376(2)(e) of the Penal Code, in conjunction with Section 16 of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017. The incident is alleged to have occurred at a residence in Taman Bersatu around 11pm on Sept 16. The accused, who did not have legal representation, could face up to 30 years in jail and corporal punishment. Judge Norita has scheduled the sentencing for Oct 23, with Deputy Supt Rhozariah Mohd serving as prosecutor.
