Police in Johor Baru have apprehended a 62-year-old factory bus driver believed to have vandalized a political party poster. The incident was reported to Johor Baru North police at 10:02 PM on August 29. According to the Johor police chief, Comm Datuk Kamarul Zaman Mamat, the poster in question, which had been placed in Tampoi, was damaged using a sharp weapon by an unidentified individual.
Acting on information and intelligence, the police arrested the suspect near Skudai Kiri at 5:35 AM on September 1. Upon apprehension, the police seized several items from the suspect, including a political party flag, a saw edge knife, a dashboard camera, a bus factory, and a mobile phone. The suspect is currently under remand until September 4 to assist in the investigation. The investigation is being carried out under Section 427 of the Penal Code.
Comm Kamarul Zaman emphasized the importance of respect among all parties and supporters, urging them not to cause damage to campaign materials or engage in any act of treason against political party property. He issued a stern warning that strict action would be taken against anyone found breaking the law.
