Aiming to rescue 13 “sick” housing projects valued at almost RM1 billion by next year, the Johor State Government has introduced the Abandoned Project Monitoring Committee (JPST). The committee, established last year, consists of the Johor State Housing Development Corporation (PKPJ), 16 local authorities, and all technical agencies under the state government. Despite not falling under the state government’s jurisdiction, they have intervened and managed to save seven housing projects within the past year. These projects include 1,073 units amounting to RM260 million, all of which have been granted Certificates of Completion and Compliance (CCC) and the keys have been handed over to their owners.
The seven rescued housing projects are Residensi Prima Kota Tinggi, Taman Kota Jaya 2 Kota Tinggi, Taman Saujana Jaya Kulai, Taman Desa Impian Tenggara, Taman Tanjung Puteri Pasir Gudang, Taman Impiana Kulai, and Taman Desa Kempas Johor Baru.
The state government aims to rescue six more sick and abandoned projects next year, which consist of 1,776 units worth RM682 million. This would bring the total value of the rescued properties to RM942 million. The targeted projects for next year are Taman Desa Tangkak, Taman Sri Unas Permai Muar, Taman Residensi Larkin Indah, Taman Molek Perdana, Taman Impiana Kulai (Phase 2), and Taman Kulai Utama.
