JOHOR BARU: In a recent operation, the Marine Police Region II successfully uncovered a syndicate involved in the production and distribution of counterfeit liquor. Acting on a tip-off, the Marine Police Region II personnel conducted a raid at a premises in Skudai around 10.30pm on Sunday (July 9). Preliminary investigations suggest that the premises had been transformed into a storage and processing centre for illicit liquor production. The marine police arrested a 35-year-old local man at the scene and confiscated boxes filled with counterfeit liquor, along with tools used in the production process, valued at approximately RM241,000. The suspect, who works as a transporter, has been placed under remand until July 24 to assist with the ongoing investigation. It is believed that the syndicate had been operating for less than a month prior to the raid. Authorities are urging the public to avoid purchasing and consuming counterfeit liquor, and to report any suspicious activities to the relevant authorities. The police remain committed to tackling such illegal activities within the region.
