KLUANG: Following heavy downpour on Sunday (Oct 6) morning, authorities in Johor have established a temporary relief centre at SK Dato Jaafar in Machap.

The state disaster management committee opened the centre at about 12pm in response to flash floods that struck Taman Suria and Taman Rekamas.

“Currently, 52 residents from 16 families who reside in the two affected areas have been moved to the temporary relief centre,” the committee said on Sunday (Oct 6).

The committee added that the Malaysian Meteorological Department forecasts fair weather across Johor by the evening.

Water levels at Sungai Paloh, Sungai Mengkibol, Sungai Kahang, Machap dam, and Sungai Benut in Simpang Renggam are reported to be normal.
