Police in Kota Tinggi have apprehended a man in connection with a break-in at a warehouse near Pengerang. The incident resulted in the theft of several pieces of equipment worth a total of RM400,000.
The Kota Tinggi OCPD, Supt Hussin Zamora, stated that a police report was filed by the company’s representative on Monday (July 31) at around 11.10am. The report detailed the theft of metal scaffolding and generator sets from the warehouse.
Supt Hussin further commented, “Based on the information we received, we arrested a male suspect in his 40s at Pekan Jabi in Segamat on Tuesday (Aug 1) at approximately 5pm. We have reason to believe that the suspect is involved in the case.”
Following the suspect’s arrest, the police managed to recover the missing items, which were found hidden in a forest area along Jalan Sungai Pulai in Tanjung Kupang near Iskandar Puteri,” he revealed on Wednesday (Aug 2).
Supt Hussin also mentioned that in addition to the stolen items, a lorry that had been reported missing in Seri Alam since March of the previous year was discovered at the scene.
“We were able to solve the case within 31 hours after the police report was filed. Further investigations on the suspect revealed that he had two previous criminal records,” Supt Hussin disclosed.
The suspect is currently in custody and will be remanded until Friday (Aug 4) to assist with the ongoing investigation under Section 379 of the Penal Code,” Supt Hussin stated.
