Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat confirmed the arrest, stating, “I can confirm that police have made an arrest pertaining to the stabbing of a 22-year-old constable on Monday (July 10). Upon testing the suspect, it was found that he had consumed drugs and was under their influence at the time of his arrest.”
ACP Raub declined to provide further details about the arrest as the case is still under investigation. However, when asked about the condition of the injured policeman, he mentioned that the constable was stable and improving.
“Alhamdulilah, the personnel is doing better but he is still being monitored at Sultanah Aminah Hospital for the next few days,” ACP Raub added.
The incident occurred during Ops Tapis Khas, a nationwide operation to combat drug addiction. The policeman was stabbed at a parking lot on Jalan Ungku Puan on Monday (July 10) around 2.30am. The suspect used a knife to inflict serious injuries to the left side of the constable’s back rib.
The victim, accompanied by five personnel and one officer, was conducting an inspection of three individuals suspected of drug abuse when one of the suspects attempted to flee. A scuffle ensued, resulting in the policeman being stabbed, while the suspect managed to escape on foot.
