JOHOR BARU: The Johor Islamic Religious Department (JAINJ) is collaborating with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to prevent the spread of deviant teachings by Suhaini Muhammad, also known as SiHulk.

Mohd Fared Mohd Khalid, chairman of the State Islamic Religious Affairs Committee, announced this decision after a meeting on July 20. He stated that action would soon be taken in response to viral videos featuring individuals claiming to be followers of Suhaini.

According to him, these individuals are believed to be in New Zealand, making it difficult for authorities to take action against them.

“If the videos are being distributed and uploaded abroad, we do not have jurisdiction over them. Legal action cannot be taken,” Mohd Fared explained during a press conference at the Iskandar Johor Islamic Centre.

He added, “If the individuals cannot be arrested, we will work with the media and MCMC to prevent their involvement on social media. It is crucial for the public to provide information to JAINJ, which we will then channel to MCMC for further action.”

Mohd Fared emphasized that a fatwa was issued on July 22, 2021, denouncing the teachings as conflicting with Islam, hence all activities related to the group are prohibited.

“The group’s founder and followers are cowards, only daring to issue statements when they are not in the country. When faced with strange and illogical teachings, it is best to stay away,” he advised.

Furthermore, he urged the public to avoid any involvement with the individuals or activities conducted by the group, directly or indirectly. He noted that arrests can be made according to existing laws if they return to the country.

Regarding SiHulk drinking water, which is associated with the group’s business activities, Mohd Fared stated that factories in Johor, Selangor, and Indonesia had their halal certification revoked on June 3, 2021, due to non-compliance with prescribed standards. – Bernama
