Thousands gathered in Johor to witness His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim Ibni Alrmarhum Sultan Iskandar’s departure for Kuala Lumpur to become the 17th Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia.
Accompanied by Defence Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin and Johor Menteri Besar Datuk Onn Hafiz Ghazi, His Majesty departed Istana Bukit Serene at 7:45am.
A crowd of about 30,000 people, including school students and state civil servants, watched Sultan Ibrahim’s departure along the route leading to LTAS and at other key locations.
Upon arriving at LTAS, His Majesty was welcomed by state dignitaries and government officers.
Before the Royal entourage departed for Kuala Lumpur, Johor Mufti Datuk Yahya Ahmad led a prayer recitation, followed by the chanting of “Daulat Tuanku” three times by Datuk Pengelola Bijaya Diraja Colonel (Rtd) Datuk Mohamed Perang Musa.
