SEREMBAN: The Road Transport Department (JPJ) has taken action against public transport and commercial vehicle operators in Negri Sembilan, issuing 3,992 summonses and impounding 47 vehicles during a special month-long operation. The operation, which ran from Oct 1, aimed to ensure compliance with regulations under the Road Transport Act 1987 and the Land Public Transport Act 2010. A total of 30,467 vehicles were inspected by JPJ teams.
In a statement, the JPJ said they focused on seven key regulations, including driver’s license validity, vehicle permits, insurance, and technical specifications. The department issued summonses to drivers and owners of 2,192 vehicles, with 1,576 being commercial vehicles.
Additionally, the JPJ issued 2,421 notices to drivers and operators, requiring vehicle inspections and weighing of loaded vehicles at the nearest station. Offenses committed during the operation included queue cutting, overtaking along double lines, beating red lights, using emergency lanes, using mobile phones while driving, and overloading.
The JPJ emphasized that violations of road traffic regulations and rules are taken seriously as they can endanger lives and inconvenience other road users. The department will continue to enforce regulations to ensure all road users adhere to them.
